Today we're featuring Vince Lia, a health and wellness coach, speaker and creator of the Fit From Food Academy. After being diagnosed with ulcerative colitis, he began to look at food differently. He started researching nutrition and understanding how food can become fuel for the body. This started his wellness journey and wanting to help others.
Whitney first met Vince in 2014 through the Eco-Vegan Gal book club. Shortly after, he became a student of her Creative Wellth training programs, which lead to them becoming friends. Vince went on to launch a personal brand and vegan YouTube channel, on which Jason has made multiple appearances; check out their popular Vegan Shopping video series.
Vince's journey to get well and help others live well made him a great person to include in this series. He shares valuable advice on staying on track personally and professionally, listening to your body, overcoming the comparison trap and numbers game, and creating a roadmap to success.
Vince's Tips on How To Take Charge Of Your Life:
Listen to your body and don't be hard on yourself is Vince's top advice on living a long, healthy life. He says, "no one knows your body better than yourself. Your body is an amazing machine, we just need to listen to what it is telling us. Just like we get thirsty when we need water, we can crave certain foods because the body may need different vitamins or minerals. Remember that listening to your body and making healthy changes can take time. Progress over perfection is key."
Creating daily and weekly goals can help keep you on track personally and professionally. Vince suggests writing goals down so you can see them every day and "don't be afraid to adjust them when needed. I do this in the morning and started created a morning routine that includes meditation and goal setting. I've also made sleep a priority and unwind with a book at night."
"Fear, doubt, and negativity come from comparing yourself to others, especially in a world where everyone is preoccupied with numbers. Numbers of followers, numbers of likes, number of comments. It can be overwhelming and it's easy to fall into this trap. It happened to me when I first started putting myself out there. I dealt with this by focusing on my goals and looking back at how far I have come. Remember to celebrate the small successes in life and focus on what you're doing and your own goals and less about the numbers. The numbers will come if you focus on your goals."
Vince's recommendation to stay healthy and shed a few pounds is to do some kind of daily movement. "It's easy to sit behind a desk all day and work on the computer. Take a short walk to start your day or take a break during the day to go for a walk. It doesn't have to be a long walk, just start with whatever time you can make fit into your schedule."
A top tip to make money sharing your passion: "create a plan that is realistic for you and be honest with yourself. You need to become self-aware about your strengths, weaknesses and what you really want to do. It may be best for you to create something small to generate a little money on the side, or maybe you want to eventually take it full time. You are the only one who really knows what is best for you, just be sure to plan it out with realistic goals so you can create a roadmap for success."
