Today we're featuring Melissa Glazewski, who hosts plant-based cooking classes, events, demos, and workshops, and is always cooking something. She loves cooking for people and the kitchen is definitely her happy place! Her goal is to show people how easy and fun it can be to eat healthier and give them the tools they need to live their best lives.
We met Melissa through our mutual friend Allison Melody (who has an incredible podcast called Food Heals). Melissa has supported us on many business projects (including many Wellevatr launches) and has been an incredible asset in our lives. We hope she brings as much value to your life as she has ours! We were thrilled to pick her brain on topics like creating a nighttime routine, tackling your to-do list, moving through anxiety, intermittent fasting for digestive benefits and monetizing authentically. We gave her a few prompts and she has some wonderful tips that we're thrilled to share with you.
Melissa's Tips on How To Take Charge Of Your Life:

Allowing yourself time to rest and getting quality sleep are critical elements of wellness. Melissa finds that "restful sleep plays a vital role in our health-it's when our bodies detox, repair and restore. Not only can ongoing sleep deficiency lead to numerous chronic health conditions, it can also affect your energy levels, productivity, and the decisions you make each day. Implementing a healthy nighttime routine and getting in tune with your body can greatly improve your sleep leaving you healthier, happier and more energized!"

As someone who is constantly working throughout the day, creating boundaries has been a big challenge for Melissa. "Recognizing when my body and brain need a break and not forcing it to do something when it mentally and physically resists. Creating that balance allows you to recharge and as a result, you will return more energized, focused and ready to tackle your to-do list and any challenges that may arise!"

One thing that helps Melissa move through anxiety and doubt is a long walk outside while listening to a motivational podcast. "The fresh air, sun, the sounds of nature...it all connects me to the present moment. That combined with a podcast that motivates and inspires me really gets me back to feeling myself!"

This may be cliche, but Melissa believes that the secret to getting in peak physical condition is to find what works for you. "The raw salads, or the latest trend may not work for you-and it could take some time to figure out what you enjoy that works! There are a couple of things I recommend, but intermittent fasting is the main one. I have gut issues and giving my digestion a break for long periods of time really works and makes me feel healthier and more energized. Occasionally I find myself in a situation where I eat outside of my eating window and I'm always gentle on myself and remind myself that that is ok! Our mindset and how we treat ourselves also plays a role in our health and weight."

When it comes to monetizing her work and skills, Melissa admits that she's still figuring this one out! "I left my full-time job in late 2017 to pursue my passions. I've found ways to monetize my love of food and cooking, but there is always so much more to learn and new opportunities to pursue. That being said, my top tip would be to go with the flow. See which direction the universe takes you and pay attention to the signs. Your path may not always look how you imagined and it could take you longer to get there, but put in the work doing what you love and it's going to pay off!"
