Why Being a "Self-Made" Success is a Myth
Nov 20, 2020
There's a sticky little social myth that we want to talk to you about this week that needs some, well, serious myth-busting...
It's the myth of the "self-made" success story: the notion that someone, in a vacuum of life, solely and sovereignly created their own opportunities, success, and abundance devoid of any assistance, support, or help from anyone else.
First of all, upon reading it, that statement sounds totally batshit crazy and devoid of reality.
Second, it's NOT possible to create your life in a vacuum independent of other people. If you did, well then you're probably a single-celled amoeba.
Third, if you've ever been in a hard, vulnerable, or challenging moment in your life, you KNOW you can't make it alone.
There's some form of grace, generosity, or "miracle" that somehow finds its way into your reality to lift you up and help you overcome the hardest times. Jason is going through that experience right now healing from his motorcycle accident.
It seems that our true state of being on this planet is one of interdependence: where we MUST rely on one another's love, generosity, and contribution to overcoming the collective challenges staring us all down on a global level: from climate change to animal agriculture to the toxic food system... it's a long list and we've got a lot of work to do together!
