Today we're featuring Shoshana & Adam Chaim, co-hosts of The Plant Trainers Podcast and co-founders of the Vegan Podcast Academy. Shoshana is an author and international speaker with a special interest in plant-based nutrition and Redox Signalling Technology. She works with individuals to alleviate stress in life caused by diet, lifestyle, cellular breakdown and chronic illness. Adam is a plant-based endurance athlete, 2X Ironman and health coach with over 20 years of experience. After a major wake-up call, he adopted a plant-based lifestyle and now thrives in life.
We met Shoshana and Adam virtually through Matt Frazier's annual No Meat Athlete bundle sale and Jason was a guest on their podcast, addressing plant-based, holistic solutions to depression, anxiety and mental health challenges. This new interview series felt like the perfect time opportunity to get to know them better and hear their perspectives on topics like longevity, exercise, goal setting, monetization, parenthood, and travel. We gave them a few prompts and they had some wonderfully in-depth responses.
Shoshana & Adam's Tips on How To Take Charge Of Your Life:
-
On Longevity: Shoshana believes that "gratitude is important because when you think about what you're grateful for, you'll want to be here longer and enjoy the time with those you love. In turn, that drives good positive decision making." Adam is a big proponent of fitness. "Find an activity, exercise or type of training that you enjoy will encourage you to continue to participate in it. Keeping your body moving every day not only provides you with physical benefits, but it provides you with mental health benefits as well."
-
On Goal Setting: Shoshana suggests "writing down your goals and revisiting them daily is an important routine to get into." Adam's perspective is that "in order to stay committed to your goals, they must have true meaning for you. Understanding the reason behind the goal will help reinforce and encourage you to create habits around successfully accomplishing your goals." Like Shoshana, he encourages "writing your goals down and reading them daily, reflecting on them, helps to build a connection between what you want to achieve and where you are at the current moment."
-
On Fear, Doubt, Stress, and Negativity: Shoshana has found that "leaning on the people I can count on helps me overcome times of challenge. Using Neuro-linguistic Programming (NLP), Emotional Freedom Tapping (EFT), and gratitude have been tools that have helped me get through my deepest and darkest of days." Adam always comes back to his mantra: 'I am strong, I am determined, I can do anything I choose to do'. He says that "if you tell yourself positive things, you can't listen to the negative voice that may be in your head."
-
On Getting in Peak Physical Shape: Shoshana has found accountability to be key. "Having a partner, a goal, a coach or a financial commitment to keep me showing up helps keep me in peak physical condition and ensures I do it in a safe, smart and sustainable way. To lose weight or shed a few pounds, make sure your goals are realistic and find an accountability partner or coach to help you morph your behaviors until they are daily values." On this subject, Adam advocates for consistency. "You didn't get to where you are today overnight. To make the changes you want, don't expect them to happen just like that. It takes hard work to get to where you're meant to be, but more importantly, it takes consistency. Show up every day to get it done and over time, you will become the person you want to be or achieve the goal you've set."
-
On Monetization: Shoshana suggests creating a podcast so you can get your message out and attract your ideal client and build your business. She recommends joining their Vegan Podcast Academy. Adam says, "believe in yourself and your expertise. If you don't believe in your product or abilities to share the knowledge you have, no one else will either. Show your passion, lead with your heart and the pieces will fall into place. We have been able to monetize our coaching business and podcast through consistency and passion. That's what led us to start the Vegan Podcast Academy. Another tool to help awesome people create their own podcasts and get their important messages out there because everyone's message deserves to be heard."
- On Travel: Travel has always been important to them, although it has changed since having kids. Shoshana says, "we try to get away as a family. As a speaker, traveling for work is important and also provides some independence, while connecting with so many great people from different parts of the world." Adam believes that travel is the best form of education. "Real-life experiences and experiential learning is where true education comes from. We aim to travel with the family 2-3 times per year. We also aim to travel to 2-3 conferences a year as speakers and/or attendees. Travel is a very important aspect of our lives and we are grateful for the opportunities to do so."
